
Janet Joseph
Janet Joseph has been working on climate change and clean energy issues for more than 30 years and been the architect of many programs and policies that have defined New York's nation-leading energy agenda. Joseph formerly served as the senior vice president for strategy and market development at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), where she most recently led NYSERDA’s work in building decarbonization.
During her tenure at NYSERDA, Joseph was directly responsible for overseeing $4.5 billion of investment, helping to bring energy efficiency and clean energy to communities across New York. She has held technical, policy, and executive leadership positions, spearheading initiatives to develop a clean energy industry, build a cleantech innovation ecosystem, advance building electrification and affordable housing, and identify greenhouse gas reduction strategies that provide benefits to communities. She built partnerships with many organizations and helped mentor numerous employees who have gone on to continue to drive progress in clean energy. Prior to joining NYSERDA, Joseph was a research scientist at Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratory and a consultant for Booz-Allen and Hamilton in Washington, D.C.
Joseph is currently an energy consultant and principal of JLJ Sustainability Solutions. She received the 2022 New York Energy Award for Outstanding Leadership and Vision and was the recipient of the 2015 Public Service Excellence Award from the State Academy for Public Administration. Joseph currently serves on the boards and advisory councils of the Building Decarbonization Coalition, Urban Green Council, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership, and the Climate United Coalition.
