
Chiquita Brooks-LaSure
Chiquita Brooks-LaSure was the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under President Biden, where she oversaw programs including Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplaces. Under her leadership, CMS doubled health coverage under ACA Marketplaces from 12 to 24 million enrollees, expanded and strengthened Medicaid, raised maternal health standards, and led negotiations to lower prescription drug costs under Medicare.
Brooks-LaSure is currently a Senior Fellow at the Century Foundation. She previously acted as a managing director at Manatt Health. Brooks-LaSure also served in the Obama administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from 2010 to 2014, first as director of coverage policy in the Office of Health Reform and then as deputy center and policy director for the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She served as professional staff for the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee from 2007-2010. Brooks-LaSure received her bachelor of arts degree from Princeton University and master of public policy degree from Georgetown University.
